We value you as a member of our CERC homeschool community and are constantly monitoring the local, state, and national COVID-19 landscape to ensure we make the best possible decision for how to re-open our bookstore space. We will always put your safety, and the safety of our volunteers and board members, as our top priority during this unprecedented time.
Procedures in the Bookstore
The CERC Bookstore is taking steps to maintain the safety of our volunteers and customers. We have already implemented curbside pickup, online orders, and phone orders. We will continue to have these options as our main form of low-contact shopping. We will continue to adapt as necessary.
In order to maintain procedures for keeping the bookstore clean, we have created shopping guidelines that are required for anyone entering the bookstore. We ask for your patience and understanding as we attempt to protect and serve everyone involved.
Shopping – Summer 2020 Temporary Guidelines
- To allow all of our customers the freedom to move about the store as they shop without worrying about social-distancing, we have put together one (1) hour time slots for individuals.
- Customers and volunteers are required to wear face masks at all times within the bookstore. YOU WILL BE TURNED AWAY IF YOU ARE NOT PROPERLY WEARING A MASK. This is a courtesy to everyone involved and is not negotiable. (As of June 21, 2020, Dallas County requires masks for all businesses.)
- Volunteer staff will wash hands, sanitize work stations, and clean commonly used equipment and surfaces frequently. We will be cleaning between appointments, and at the end of each day.
- If you, or someone with whom you have regular contact, are in the high risk category, or you do not feel well, please do not come to the bookstore. We will be happy to be your personal shopper!
- Reusable bags will not be allowed at this time.
Curb-side Pickup
Curb-side pickup is still available for all families. Through messages and pictures we can find what you need and arrange for curb-side pickup during regular hours.

Shop by Appointment
We are using Sign-Up Genius to schedule appointments for those who wish to shop! These are (one) 1 hour time slots. As a courtesy to others, please only schedule ONE time slot initially. There will be plenty of time to discuss and find what you need for the Fall.
Please follow all guidelines (and these are subject to change depending on state and local requirements.) MASKS ARE REQUIRED. YOU WILL BE TURNED AWAY IF YOU ARE NOT PROPERLY WEARING A MASK.

Our NEW STORE WEB-SITE has been published. Although many more titles will be added, you can explore the new online bookstore. Email or call us with any questions regarding specific titles.
Selling Books by Appointment
Currently, the CDC guidelines are unclear in the handling of used merchandise. However, there are many statements regarding “limit the sharing … of objects that cannot be easily cleaned” {paraphrased}. Obviously, we want to take every precaution possible. The purchase of used textbooks and curriculum will be handled with this in mind. All books purchased will be handled with gloves, cleaned if possible, and will be held for 2 weeks before being placed on the shelf for purchase.
Beginning in June, there are Book appointments for selling books. Appointments are offered at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday throughout the summer. Your patience and consideration will be greatly appreciated while we work through the best way to bring in much needed curriculum.
- We will only process one (1) box per appointment and within the 1 hour appointment.
- Books must be clean (no dust, dirt, or liquid stains).
- Customer does not have to remain in the store during the appointment.
- All other regular bookstore Buy Back policies are still in effect.
