Dates: June 20-24 (Mon – Fri) Times: 9am – 3pm
Ages: 12+ Grade level: 7th – 12th
Tuition: $75/student
Each day will begin with a full theater warm-up and a few rounds of improvisation games and activities. Each day will consist of work on a series of scenes that will be performed at the last session. While working on the scenes, time will be taken to focus on the basic rules of acting. Breaks will be taken to expand the actors’ theater vocabulary while broadening their knowledge of terms and professional standards. Actors will be expected to work hard at sharpening their skills according to the high expectations set. By performing only one or two scenes each, actors will be given the ability to focus intensely on proper techniques while polishing their performance abilities. Scenes will range in size based on number of actors. Depending on abilities, the scenes will range from comedic to dramatic; additionally, scenes will range in length. All actors will be given modern, realism scenes to provide an opportunity to work on authenticity, emotion, and realistic characters. This camp is great for the beginner and advanced actor alike. No experience required, but always welcomed. An overview of the topics is as follows: Auditioning, warm-ups, improvisation, physicality and movement, the voice, terms and techniques, blocking, working with others, character analysis, units and motivation, and perfecting a performance.
